    Job Description Qualifications:

    Follows specific instructions to translate sketches or layouts and written specifications of engineering requirements into product definition data (e.g., detail, assembly and installation drawings, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) data, Bill of Material (BOM) etc.) based on applicable standards and established precedents. Assists with self-validation of product definition data to insure the accuracy of completed work.

    The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Production Engineering Organization is seeking a Technical Drafter to support multiple commodities and airplane programs at the Portland, Oregon facility.

    We are looking for a proactive individual who can make quick engineering decisions and who want go beyond their desk and into the factory for hands on engineering. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, partnering closely with production personnel. The candidate may be assigned to first, second, or third shift as well as weekend or daily overtime. This requirement varies from site to site and is typically covered on a rotation basis.

    This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling).

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Investigate possible engineering issues and develop/implement needed changes or provide clear response to customer
    • Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
    • Make changes and releases to manual and CAD drawings

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • AA in Engineering Field or education/experience equivalent (HS Diploma/GED + work experience in field)
    • Basic knowledge of design and/or engineering principles to develop engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production lifecycle
    • Proficient in written and verbal communication
    • Experience with CAD / CATIA V5 / Solildworks
    • Experience with Micro Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Prior Boeing Experience is highly desired
    • Excellent problem solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills

    Typical Education / Experience:

    Associate level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. GED / HS Diploma and 2 years' related work experience, etc.).

    Mid-level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

    Summary pay range

    Associate level: $40,000 - $50,000

    Mid-level: $58,000 - $68,000
