We recently teamed up with NerdWallet to survey 700 employers and 8,000 students and new grads across the US on salary negotiation. We wanted to find out if students are negotiating and whether employers see this as a good or bad thing for candidates applying to internships and entry-level jobs. The results? Employers overwhelmingly expect students to negotiate, and over 90% said they’d never retract an offer because a candidate attempted to negotiate. That’s why it’s always worth asking.
