Why did you choose to work for a member of Congress? I interned at this office the summer after I graduated from college. I was having a lot of trouble figuring out exactly what I wanted to do, but once I started working closely with the scheduler who worked here at the time, I instantly saw myself in her role. When the position opened up, I applied!
What’s the most challenging part of your job? Staying organized! Days can get busy, but it’s all exciting.
What’s your favorite part of the job? Being able to see our government in action.
What’s a common misconception about your job? When most people ask about what I do, they ask for a comparison to a character from a television shows!
Any tips for current college students who aspire to have your job? Not only for my job but for any job – follow up with the employer, be enthusiastic and be yourself!
If you had a time machine and could travel back to visit yourself in college, what’s the #1 piece of advice you would have given yourself? Don’t be too hard on yourself. Stay healthy, work hard, but keep everything in perspective.
