5 Things You Can Do With The Money You Make From Your Side Hustle

If you haven’t already heard, it’s side hustle season. And with all of these amazing opportunities to boost your resume, sharpen your skills, and—of course—make more money, you might be wondering what you should actually do with all that extra cash.

If you’re anything like Spongebob and Patrick, you might’ve already tried burying it, shredding it, and even giving it away.

But for those looking for something short of the Squarepants Method, here are some suggestions for what to do with all that extra cash.

1. Buy Some Christmas Presents That People Actually Want

It’s funny… because it’s true.

You’re an adult now. Kind of. So maybe it’s time to shop like one. Don’t go too crazy. Your parents and friends won’t want you to blow all your money on gifts. However, it’ll be nice to buy your family and a few friends some gifts they might actually want.

2. Get Yourself The Perfect Interview Outfit

There are a ton of ways to nail the interview outfit. Whether it’s a business formal affair or a casual networking event conversation, there’s always an art to presenting your best self. The only issue: Securing the perfect outfit.

3. Get Ready To Pay Your Students Loans

You do not want to end up like Mike on this one.

Student debt is a reason that people end up taking a job out of desperation rather than waiting for their dream job (or at least dream job). Get ahead on yours by putting away some money to pay it off when the collector comes calling.

4. Book A Spring Break Trip

For once, Scott, we agree with you.

Whether you’re into a traditional beach bacchanal in Cabo or an earthy road trip to the Grand Canyon, vacations cost money. They’re also really, really fun. Use some of that extra scratch to take advantage of a time in your life when you don’t have to worry about vacation days and just worry about when you and your friends are off from school.

5. Save It

We’re sorry for this one.

We know. This is perhaps the most boring possible answer to the question: What should I do with my money? But, hey, we’ve got to give you at least one responsible answer. Put that money away and you’ll have it when you really need it…or want it.

In all seriousness, this is time to save your money. You picked up a side hustle because you have time to spare. That’s not always going to be the case. So, it’s good to put away that extra money while you can actually earn it.

No Matter What You Do, Keep (Side) Hustling

What you’d be saying if you didn’t have a side hustle.

Congratulations, you’re making a ton of extra money with your side hustle. But it’s called a “hustle” for a reason. You’ve got to put in the work, so keep doing it. Whether it’s writing, pet sitting, dog walking, tutoring, delivering, canvassing, creating, or anything else, just get out there and keep doing it.
