The Accountant I provides professional accounting support and assist in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by using their keen attention to detail skills, effective communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
Essential Functions
- Review and process expense reports and invoices
- Prepare invoices for customers
- Record and process payments received from customers
- Prepare bank deposits
- Reconciles business credit card account and general ledger accounts
- Participate in month-end closing process
- Ensure compliance with company policies and report any discrepancies
- Assist with annual audit preparation
- Assist in workshop/conference registrations
- Develop rooms reservation and flight schedule spreadsheets for Commission/workshop/conference meetings
- Manage the administration for the expense reporting system
Required Education and Experience
- Baccalaureate degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a junior accountant or accountant
- Outstanding understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize workload
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software; specifically proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Quickbooks Online
- Ability to think and work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteer leaders, program personnel, and the public
- Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information
