  • Responsibilities

    The Accountant I provides professional accounting support and assist in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by using their keen attention to detail skills, effective communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.

    Essential Functions

    • Review and process expense reports and invoices
    • Prepare invoices for customers
    • Record and process payments received from customers
    • Prepare bank deposits
    • Reconciles business credit card account and general ledger accounts
    • Participate in month-end closing process
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and report any discrepancies
    • Assist with annual audit preparation
    • Assist in workshop/conference registrations
    • Develop rooms reservation and flight schedule spreadsheets for Commission/workshop/conference meetings
    • Manage the administration for the expense reporting system

    Required Education and Experience

    • Baccalaureate degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a junior accountant or accountant
    • Outstanding understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize workload
    • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software; specifically proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Quickbooks Online
    • Ability to think and work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
    • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteer leaders, program personnel, and the public
    • Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information
