    JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking several Entry-Level Aerodynamics Engineer in Everett, WA.

    The Aerodynamics Performance group is part of the larger Flight Sciences organization and provides design and analysis support for all development and in-production aircraft within Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

    Our team is organized in four groups: Aero Performance Sales Support and Competitive Analysis, Aero Performance Product Development, Fleet Support, and ETOPS, Aero Performance Flight Manuals and Performance Tools, and Aero Performance Certification and Aero Performance Fuel Mileage.

    These teams contribute to the entire airplane life cycle from product development to certification, production and fleet support. We work closely with other teams from Flight Sciences, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, other disciplines and regulatory organizations to ensure airplanes satisfy design and certification requirements for all phases of flight including takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Calculate and present airplane performance for new and derivative Boeing and competitor aircraft models to support product development, sales campaigns, and airline operations while ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and airline operational rules.

    • Assist in certifying aircraft and establishing performance levels.

    • Conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies and define market requirements to support development of new models.

    • Support airline fleet operations by answering airline queries and providing airplane on ground support.

    • Develop new and improve existing tools to accomplish the above tasks.

    This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

    • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Aeronautical/Aerospace (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering by the end of June 2022

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

    • Experience working in cross functional teams

    • Experience working with aerospace engineering principles

    • Experience interacting with internal and external customers

    • Experience in aircraft performance analysis

    • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations as they pertain to aircraft performance

    • Software development experience and knowledge of professional software engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Languages: Java, Python, SQL, Matlab, FORTRAN. Tools: Git. Platforms: Linux, Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

    • Candidates who have demonstrated initiative from project or team leadership experience is highly desired. Also desire strong presentation ability and communication skills (both verbal & written).

    TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

    • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
