    JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:

    The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Production Engineering Organization is seeking Liaison Engineers to support multiple commodities and airplane programs in Puget Sound locations. We are looking for proactive individuals who can make quick engineering decisions and who want go beyond their desk and into the factory for hands on engineering.

    This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, partnering closely with production personnel. The candidate may be assigned to first, second, or third shift as well as weekend or daily overtime. This requirement varies from site to site and is typically covered on a rotation basis. This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during their many stages of build.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Gains and applies basic knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.

    • With close supervision, analyzes, conducts failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoots to understand root cause.

    • With close supervision, provides written dispositions for routine design non-conformances.

    • Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.

    • Develops foundational knowledge and gains experience to obtain Material Review Board (MRB) and Universal Product Review (UPR) approval authority.

    • Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.

    • Recommends simple non-destructive test procedures, tools, standards.

    • With supervision, conducts simple static strength analysis to validate interim design repairs meet original design loads criteria.

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    This is a union represented position.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

    • Possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry by June 2022

    • Excellent cross-functional teaming, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

    • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in: Mechanical, Aerospace / Aeronautical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or Material Science Engineering

    • Excellent problem solving and communication skills

    • Ability to lead, work independently and in a team environment

    TYPICAL EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

    • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    RELOCATION:

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
