    JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:

    BOEING DEFENSE & SPACE is seeking an ENTRY LEVEL MATERIALS, PROCESS, AND PHYSICS ENGINEER (COMPOSITE/INTERIOR COMPOSITE) to support our team in RIDLEY PARK, PA.

    The main focus of this assignment will be factory support. This includes working with existing processes and equipment associated with the rotor craft production line, identifying effective manufacturing technology (processes, tools and equipment) to accomplish the build work statement, supporting repair of defective conditions on the aircraft, project management skills, specifically for projects that develop and insert manufacturing technology into current or future build process, and daily interaction with shop personnel. This is for Composite Center support of composite structures, hand lay-up, fiber placement, rotor blades, and other composites processes and shops.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collects information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products.

    • Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.

    • Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.

    • Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.

    • Conducts basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.

    • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions. Develops basic computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.

    • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    These positions must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):

    • Experience with composites manufacturing or engineering

    • Experience with composites fabrication, soldering, assembly, or autoclave

    • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)

    • Experience with engineering research and development

    • Experience with working in a team atmosphere: Ability to work across functions (Teamwork)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):

    • Experience with Project Management or similar activity

    • Experience with prototyping

    • Experience with root cause corrective analysis

    • Experience with safety analysis

    • Experience with strong communication skills

    TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
