Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) – Structures Stress Team, located in Long Beach, California, is seeking an Entry Level Stress Analyst Engineer with knowledge of stress analysis methods, engineering principles and coordination skills. Stress analyst will consider static strength and fatigue life of primary and secondary structure across the fleet of Boeing airplane models, including 787.

    This role may require some travel to support our customers and provide learning experiences to improve your career.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Assists the team in performing detailed structural analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue and damage tolerance) to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis supports responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and to show compliance with regulatory requirements.

    • Take instructions well and be able to learn the fundamentals of providing mentorship on structural methods and configuration development.

    • Support trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.

    • Assist in developing, deploying, and supporting in-house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.

    • Willing to learn and work closely with the lead to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity with some/minimal instruction.

    • Assist in documenting structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements.

    • Participates in the resolution of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer (internal and external).

    This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

    • 1+ years experience or college coursework in Structures stress analysis

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):

    • 1+ years engineering experience

    • 1+ years aerospace structures experience

    Typical Education & Experience:

    • Entry-Level, Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil, or Material Science (with composite focus), and select Structures engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
