The CAD Assistant Designer is responsible for supporting the creation of prints and patterns for all product categories with direction from the Sr CAD Manager. This role is part organizational/administrative and part creative. The CAD team partners with designers in the execution of assigned design projects to create artwork for products and fabrications exclusive to Lands' End. The CAD Assistant Designer supports the CAD team by in exporting, printing, organizing artwork as well as cleaning, creating repeats and colorways for select original and purchased prints.
- Assist in the design and development of Lands' End prints & patterns and their collaboration with Design and Concept teams.
- Assist in building out Seasonal Concept presentations. This will consist of printing, trimming and prepping tools for the Concept Room: CADs in correct sizes & colorways with identifying style & color numbers attached.
- Make record of all prints in Final Concept presentation and recreate on boards in CAD Workroom.
- Maintain organization of CAD workroom.
- Assist by cleaning, creating simple repeats for prints based on existing artwork as directed by the Sr CAD Manager and CAD Designers using Kaledo, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Develop colorways for artwork using Lands' End seasonal palettes as requested by Sr CAD Manager and Designers. Print and/or post to Miro as needed. Communicate to CFPs as needed
- Follow direction from CAD designers, assisting them in following apparel designer requests and translating to print and pattern concepts.
- Comment on strike off layout execution in assistance to the Sr CAD manager. Check-in with original CAD designer where necessary. Identify and problem solve production issues to ensure design intent is preserved.
- Assist in creation of seasonal presentations, using Kaledo, Photoshop and or Illustrator.
- Manage the exporting of print/patterns and the communication to CFPs in Design & Product Development.
- Research and present print trends and tears/materials for inspiration and product direction as requested by Sr CAD Manager.
Skills
- Knowledge & practice of Kaledo and Adobe Suite Programs, a plus
- Developing skills in creating original artwork, repeats, scales, textures knits & weaves.
- Strong sense of color.
- Understanding of textiles and fabric construction.
- Understanding of printing processes and textile manufacturing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in the Print/Pattern field, preferred.
