    Work Arrangement:

    Hybrid: Position will require an employee to relocate to Michigan (Warren, Milford, Pontiac, or Grand Rapids). Depending on rotational opportunities, an employee may be required to work on-site full-time or work onsite at a minimum of three (3) days each week.

    The Role:

    The Global Product Development Group (GPD) is looking for innovative Hardware Engineering and Electrical Engineering Interns to help us build state-of-the-art platforms.

    The GPD Engineering Internship Program is a 10–12-week summer internship program. Students are matched with assignments based on preference & skillset. Depending on assignment, GPD Interns will have the opportunity to work at our locations in Milford, Pontiac, Warren or Grand Rapids.

    Hardware Engineers (Electrical): Physical and electronic components and systems for our existing and future vehicles.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Lead and direct the design, integration, analysis, and testing of components
    • Demonstrate product safety, integrity, and quality through product development
    • Provide an innovative thinking approach to integrating new technology of physical components along with electrical controllers
    • Efficient use of Software Programs Ex: NX, TeamCenter, product drawings, linear and dynamic analysis models

    • Battery System & Electronics Development Engineer
    • Automated Driving Engineer
    • Transmission / Electric Drive Unit Project Engineer
    • Instrument Panel/Cockpit Engineer
    • Active Chassis Calibration Engineer
    • Active Safety Subsystem Validation Engineer
    • Infotainment System Test Engineer
    • Studio Integration Design Engineer

    Additional Description

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

    • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following areas:
      • Electrical Engineering
      • Controls Engineering
      • Controls Systems Engineering
      • Mechatronics Engineering
      • Systems Engineering
    • Must be graduating between August 2024 and June 2027

    What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

    • Prior internship experience in automotive or technology
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Engineering Principles
    • Understanding of telecommunication technology
    • Vehicular technology (road safety, camera, lidar technology, etc.)
    • Active participation in automotive related design competitions (SAE (Formula, Baja), ECOCar, Solar Racing, Clean Snowmobile Challenge, FIRST Robotics mentorship, etc.)

    GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program.

    The salary range for this role is $4,300-$6,600, dependent upon class status and degree.
