    PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

    We are currently seeking highly motivated and energetic team members to join Howmet Fastening Systems' Operations Excellence Leadership Development Program (OELDP). The OELDP provides developmental opportunities to potential leaders and will accelerate the readiness of participants for key leadership positions within HFS.

    OELDP participants will have the opportunity to solve HFS' most significant operational and business questions and issues. Specifically, participants will engage on a series of cross-functional transformation projects that provide a focused, step-change impact to our business.

    Example project focus areas may include:

    • Operations Continuous Improvement

    • Growth and Revenue Enhancement

    • Forecasting and Planning

    • Asset Management and Efficiency (CapEx, Inventory)

    • Organization Design

    • Capability building

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Through your project work, you will:

    • Collaborate with operations and/or business leadership to identify core operational and business issues, priorities, and opportunities

    • Develop new perspectives and hypotheses on operational issues

    • Conduct research to understand trends, conditions, and processes

    • Create insights into HFS' operations and business through fact-based analysis

    • Synthesize operational and business insights derived from analysis into clear, concise actionable solutions

    • Contribute to ongoing continuous process improvement and methodology development

    • Build lasting relationships and networks across various sites and functions within HFS

    Throughout, you will develop strong problem-solving, communication and people management skills.

    Additionally, you will participate in formal Advanced Business Systems (ABS) training courses which is Howmet's program on continuous improvement.

    Specifically, participants will master the concepts covered in the following ABS classes:

    • Practical Problem-Solving

    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

    • Autonomous Maintenance (AM)

    • Change-Over Reduction (SMED)

    • ABS Certification Level 1 (required of all operations supervisors and plant managers in HFS)

    Additionally, participants will be trained in ABS through a learn-by-doing approach with hands-on activities like:

    • Hoshin Planning & A3 Thinking

    • Conduct OEE studies (3 minimum)

    • Lean Kaizen events (5 minimum)

    • Problem Solving - Scientific Method (8 minimum)

    • Develop & Lead a Daily Management Meeting & Leader Standard Work

    • Financial/Accounting Metrics

    Participants will attend formal training on HFS major product offerings and applications as well as other select topics as applicable to their work, such as quality control and statistical methods, measurement processes, S&OP, etc.

    Initially, this group will serve HFS's needs across the US Aerospace locations in Southern California. All participants will be assigned to Torrance as their home site but will travel during the week (Monday-Thursday) to their project location(s). Participants will be expected to work at the Torrance site on Fridays for Program activities, events, and trainings.

    The program will include four assignments with an approximate duration of 6-months each for a total program length of 2 years. At the start of each assignment, project goals will be agreed on with HFS Leadership to ensure that participants work on the highest priority topics. Individual development is a hallmark of this program and will be closely managed. Structured performance reviews will be held at the mid and endpoint of the projects to ensure opportunities for development and growth are well understood. Additionally, participants will be assigned an HFS Leader as a mentor.

Additionally, the OELDP is viewed as a talent pool for future leadership positions in HFS.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Participants must be open to localized travel within the Southern California region as projects may be at any of HFS' California Aerospace Sites (Torrance, Fullerton, Carson, City of Industry, Simi Valley).
    • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, or other relevant field.
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
