Global Lending Group Americas - Analyst

As a Barclays Global Lending Group (GLG) Americas Analyst, you will join a Front Office team that sits in Banking within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) in the Americas. GLG works in close partnership with Coverage, Portfolio Management, Syndicate, Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Credit Risk, and Wholesale Lending Operations to structure, negotiate and execute on all lending activity across CIB Americas. You will be involved in lending activity that includes all bilateral and syndicated transactions for our clients.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting M&A, ECM, Lev Fin, and DCM activity through the management of the loan product across industry sectors
• Working on the Reserve Base Lending (RBL) portfolio and loans and the Borrowing Base redeterminations
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders to collate and assemble the integrated Loan Approval memo; noting that GLG is accountable for the integrity and overall quality of the Loan memo
• Completing the Minimum Underwriting Standards (“MUS”) templates and Key Credit Protections (“KCPs”) for transactions across industry sectors (as applicable)
• Attending internal Committee meetings as well attending bank and client meetings when requested or as appropriate
• Participating in relevant deal team discussions, including calls and meetings with Coverage, Lev Fin, DCM, Syndicate, Credit Risk, Legal, Loan Operations at relevant milestones
• Reviewing and drafting documents, to reflect the deal/client requirements, consistent with market trends, Firm practices, and internal recommendations and approvals
• Assisting with the execution and transaction process flow, including the timely escalation of any issues (including KYC)

What we’re looking for:

• Undergraduate degree and some working knowledge of or experience in the Loan business
• Experience in corporate banking, investment banking, portfolio management and/or credit risk
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness and ability to work across multiple transactions toward tight deadlines with demanding and complex institutional clients

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Reliable team player with an exceptional work ethic, and a “can do” attitude and intellectual curiosity
• Knowledge of the oil and gas sector with RBL capabilities with a keen interest in the loan market
• Experience in the lending process and ability to network effectively both internally and externally, and maintain/develop relationships with all stakeholders
• A high level of initiative and self-motivation, driven by a desire to exceed expectations
