Lead Designer

As a Barclays Lead Designer, you will actively contribute to modernization of platforms like Ab Initio, Teradata, SAS, Hadoop, Business Intelligence as per organization strategy and work on various projects, spanning across critical technical deliveries, regulatory projects and platform engineering / enhancements requested by the product owner or business users. You will be accountable for translating business requirements into technical designs, supporting testing cycles and defect resolution in line with agreed timescales.

What will you be doing?

• Driving modernization of existing platform in line with target architecture / design
• Designing & building of accelerators to support tenants to fast track migration activities
• Working closely with COE, business and technology colleagues, building effective working relationships with key business users
• Impacting assessment of legacy platforms like Ab Initio, Teradata SAS and Hadoop to understand existing patterns / processes
• Driving architecture / design for applications / platforms based on requirements received from stakeholders
• Analysing, designing and approaching for building data products

What we’re looking for:

• Advanced proficiency in Java application development
• Profound command of Java emphasizing the development and maintenance of high-quality, scalable code
• In-depth comprehension of big data technologies, distributed computing, and data processing frameworks
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with relevant tools such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and other industry

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on innovative and efficient solutions
• Demonstrable experience in optimizing and fine-tuning big data applications for heightened performance and efficiency
• External technology contributions (Noteworthy Open Source attributions)
