    Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.   As an ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST – SOLID STATE CHARACTERIZATION, you will join the Analytical Development team to support solid state characterization and method development, validation and execution for pharmaceutical materials across the discovery and development pipeline. You will use state-of-the-art technologies to support early and late stage pharmaceutical development with a variety of solid state and physicochemical techniques including X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, surface area measurement and SEM among others while onsite at a pharmaceutical client site.

    The importance of specific experience with any particular technique is secondary to the importance of your ability to generate consistent high quality characterization data and maintain associated written records. You will be asked to contribute to a variety of projects across the development pipeline, and to do so in a timely manner while working onsite at a major pharmaceutical customer site.

    Additional responsibilities for the role on site at a major pharmaceutical company:

    • Generate physicochemical characterization data to support chemical and pharmaceutical process development as well as release and stability of drug substance and drug product.

    • Generate physical form and physical characterization data for release and stability under GMP

    • Manage sample receipt and document results according to the customer's procedures

    • Shift: Monday-Friday: 8am-5pm EST

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification

    • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 1+ years) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 

    • In some cases, an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Previous experience with material property characterization related analytical techniques in the pharmaceutical or related industry

    • Experience with analytical instrumentation used in the pharmaceutical industry (2+ year) – specifically for solid state characterization such as XRPD, ssNMR, IR, Raman, SEM, DSC, TGA, surface area by BET, particle size by laser diffraction and IGC

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Solid understanding and knowledge of general chemistry and separation science

    • Ability to keep abreast of current literature and implement state of the art pharmaceutical methodology and technology as deemed appropriate

    • Knowledge of applicable regulatory authority, compendia, and ICH guidelines

    • Ability to understand and independently apply GMPs and /or GLPs to everyday work with regard to documentation and instrument use

    • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to perform tasks

    • Ability to independently optimize analytical methods

    • Good written and oral communication skills

    • Time management and project management skills

    • Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities

    • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a team
