Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a hospital near Gainesville, FL, seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join their Blood Bank/Transfusion Services team! This is a night shift, variable schedule opportunity for those with experience in blood banking and transfusion medicine.

Position Overview:

• Perform testing and analysis related to blood bank and transfusion services, including blood typing, antibody identification, crossmatching, and compatibility testing.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of blood products following regulatory and hospital protocols.
• Conduct, evaluate, and document quality control checks, instrument maintenance, and calibration per established schedules.
• Analyze testing results and validate their accuracy based on established procedures.
• Maintain compliance with AABB, CAP, CLIA, and FDA regulations.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective blood product utilization.
• Manage inventory of reagents, supplies, and blood products to ensure continuous operations.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and testing discrepancies as needed.

Candidate Profile:

• Florida Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician license required.
• National certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB) highly preferred.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field as required by CLIA.
• Experience in blood bank/transfusion services strongly preferred.
• Strong ability to work independently and efficiently during night shifts.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and attention to detail in documentation.
• Ability to work a variable night shift schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.

• $52k–$84k DOE
