    Targeted Hourly Pay: $26.00

    POSITION PURPOSE: This position is for the Commodity Management group at Veolia North America. Broadly, our team helps customers navigate the complexity of energy markets with a focus on consulting & brokering for wholesale electricity and natural gas transactions. Ultimately, our role is to provide clients with market insight needed to make strategic decisions when purchasing energy, navigating sustainability initiatives, managing budgetary risk and reducing energy spend. This position will include meeting with clients to discuss their energy needs, researching and modeling energy policies and tariffs, creating energy budgets for clients, and much more.

    Co-ops are full-time team members who are treated and valued as such! They are fully integrated into the Commodity Management team - working alongside everybody and being pulled into a host of projects, client meetings, etc. On our team, we make an intentional effort to integrate our co-ops and to provide them the most valuable experience possible based on their personal goals. Outlined below are a set of generalized tasks that co-ops take on. Ultimately though, every co-op's experience will vary depending on their expressed interest in certain topics and tasks.

    Co-op tasks:

    • Evaluate customer energy usage profiles and forward markets to advise commercial and industrial customers on how they should procure natural gas and electricity.
    • Manage, update, contribute to, and distribute biweekly energy market update newsletters to key clients, staying up to date with price drivers of natural gas and power markets.
    • Develop energy market analytical models, incorporating natural gas and historical electricity data, futures contracts, and cost inputs at different U.S locations to be utilized internally and presented to clients.
    • Develop client energy budgets, evaluate client electricity / natural gas contract performance, model client distribution tariffs, and audit client energy invoices.
    • Perform energy procurement activities such as creating requests for proposals (RFPs), assist in formulating hedging strategies, communicating with customers and suppliers, and contributing to advisory calls.
    • Create presentation materials for market updates. Relevant materials include natural gas supply, demand, and storage conditions (from shale gas plays, traditional wells, and LNG imports/exports), national weather forecasts, and regulatory development.
    • Perform market research as necessary to help manage client needs. Areas of research may include:
      • Utility company tariffs, policies, and rate cases
      • Energy supplier terms and conditions
      • State laws and regulations
    • Develop Excel-based applications to support team operations.
