    Lighthouse Lab Services seeks a full-time Histotechnologist or Histotechnician to serve in Albuquerque, New Mexico’s premier digestive health clinic. This innovative, high complexity pathology lab is committed to delivering timely and accurate pathology testing to meet the diagnostics needs of the medical community and help improve patient care.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    In coordination with the Pathology Lab Director and the Histology Lab Manager the Histotech will perform all routine Histotechnology testing and duties. The perfect candidate will provide high quality diagnostic testing within established turn-around times. Must have skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting and routine special staining techniques.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
    • Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
    • Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
    • Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
    • Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
    • Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
    • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
    • Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
    • Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
    • Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
    • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
    • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
    • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
    • Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when needed

    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • AS or BS in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biologic Science
    • One to three years as a Histotech in a high-complexity pathology lab

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • HT or HLT(ASCP) certification
    • Experience and/or familiarity using the following instruments: Sakura Tissue-Tek TEC 5 Embedding Module, Leica

    RM2255 Automated Microtome, Leica RM2125 RT Manual Microtome, Sakura SCA 4740 Coverslipper, Sakura VIP5 Tissue Processor, Leica Autostainer XL Stainer, Biocare IHC stainer

    SALARY, BENEFITS, SCHEDULE

    Salary: $55-85K Depending on education, certification, and experience

    Benefits: Individual and family medical, dental, vision insurance, PTO/Holidays, 401K with 3% contributed by the company regardless of employee participation, profit sharing, annual discretionary bonus based on company and employee performance, free lunches once a week. Other perks.

    Shift: Monday – Thursday 8am-5pm; Fridays 8am-noon
