    Lighthouse Lab Services seeks a full-time Laboratory Manager for an established clinical lab supporting a gastrointestinal group in Central Illinois.

    Position Summary

    Under the direction of the Lab Director, The Lab Manager is responsible for the general operation of the laboratory directing and coordinating personnel, technical activities, and functions throughout the major laboratory areas.

    The Lab Manager is accountable and responsible for all administrative and technical functions in assigned areas including report preparation, the budget process, and other administrative duties. In each specialized area, the Lab Manager maintains an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instrumentation.

    The Lab Manager further serves as Technical Supervisor providing all oversight of molecular and histopathology testing.

    Essential Functions & Basic Duties

    • Responsible for all lab operations, staff, and testing.
    • Evaluates, develops, and implements new technical procedures to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services.
    • Develops and implements policies and procedures as necessary to maintain a high level of

      functioning in assigned area(s).

    • Responsible for all personnel oversight including: hiring, scheduling, training, payroll, regular performance reviews, testing, disciplinary actions, continuing education, and staff advancement.

    • Responsible for the oversight laboratory QA and QC.
    • Ensures compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other accrediting agencies.
    • Performs various laboratory procedures as needed on and off the bench.
    • Manages and controls departmental budgeting and expenses.
    • Oversees lab inventory control.
    • Selects testing methodology that is appropriate for the needs of the patients served.
    • Direct and indirect oversight of instrument maintenance, calibration, and validation.
    • Conducts direct observations, test performance assessments, and problem-solving evaluations to maintain proficiency.
    • Maintains regulatory and legal compliance, navigating licensing and accrediting standards.
    • Performs other related duties as required or directed by the Lab Director.

    Minimum Position Requirements:

    • Bachelors of Science in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science required.
    • MLS(ASCP) Certification is preferred.
    • Minimum of 4 years high complexity, high volume clinical lab testing required.
    • Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a molecular setting, is required.
    • Knowledge or experience in Histopathology.
    • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations.
    • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures.
    • Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees.
    • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision.
    • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
    • Strong communication skills: both written and verbal.
    • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
    • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
    • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.

    Salary, Schedule, Benefits:

    • First shift position – Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
    • $100K-$140K salary depending on experience, education, certification
