    Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with a leading healthcare provider in Virginia, and we are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor - Histology to join their team. This is a full-time, 2nd shift position (Monday – Friday) offering competitive compensation and career growth opportunities.

    Position Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Supervisor - Histology provides first-line supervision over technical and operational staff in the histology laboratory. This role is responsible for overseeing personnel, ensuring high-quality technical and professional performance, and maintaining efficient laboratory operations. The supervisor fosters a positive and professional work environment, investigates and resolves issues, and serves as a backup to the Department Manager. Additionally, this position involves performing laboratory test procedures and other assigned duties as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Personnel & Staffing Oversight
    • Supervise technical and operational staff within the histology laboratory.
    • Monitor and evaluate staff performance to ensure compliance with professional standards.
    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and coordinate scheduling to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for laboratory personnel.
    Laboratory Operations & Quality Assurance
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain a high standard of technical performance and oversee quality control measures.
    • Investigate, document, and resolve laboratory issues, ensuring timely resolutions to problems and complaints.
    • Assist with implementing new laboratory methods, techniques, and technology improvements.
    • Monitor and enforce laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
    Administrative & Compliance Duties
    • Serve as a liaison between laboratory staff and management to facilitate communication and workflow efficiency.
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards.
    • Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory test results.
    • Assist the Laboratory Manager with administrative tasks and strategic planning.
    Technical Responsibilities
    • Perform laboratory test procedures as needed to support workflow.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the histology laboratory.
    • Stay up to date with advancements in histology techniques and laboratory best practices.

    Schedule & Compensation:

    • Schedule: Evening Shift, Monday – Friday
    • Compensation: $77,937.60 - $124,696.00 Annual

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or High School Diploma with the required education credits in compliance with CLIA regulations.
    • Experience:
      • 3 years of relevant laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or
      • 3 years of relevant experience with an Associate’s Degree plus a valid Histology Supervisor state license, or
      • 5 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma plus the minimum CLIA-required education credits.
    • Certification:
      • Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent) or
      • HT or HTL (ASCP preferred) or
      • A valid state-issued Histology Supervisor license.
