The Manufacturing Engineer Intern is responsible for development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes and quality systems for medical devices. This includes developing and implementing new processes, optimizing existing processes, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing and quality issues, and ensuring that all medical devices are manufactured in accordance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. In this role you will get an opportunity to learn from SMEs. You will be leading a project that will save hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This position is part of the Manufacturing Engineering department and will be located on-site at Lodi, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Troubleshoot and resolve production challenges with existing injection molding processes, equipment and tools. Coordinate with various departments to execute and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead/Participate in formal Kaizen activities.
• Generate and implement sustainable processes using lean manufacturing principles to improve production quality and efficiency
• Design, develop, implement, sustain, and improve both hardware and software systems used in manufacturing (e.g., injection molds, measurement systems, automation, etc.)
• Create, revise, update procedures, work instructions and requalification documents. Route documents for approval and release within QMS

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Education:
  • Pursuing Masters / Bachelors degree in degree in engineering, manufacturing, automation, or a related field
• Experience:
  • Experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD in a work environment.
  • Experience/Understanding of manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience/Understanding with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Understands technical drawings and GD&T
  • Automation project experience

The hourly range for this role is $28.00 -$32.00. This is the rate that we, in good faith, believe is the compensation for this role at the time of this posting. Please note, there is no relocation assistance provided
