Overview:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist III in Microbiology is responsible for performing both routine and specialized laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This role involves using advanced laboratory equipment, instruments, and computer systems to evaluate and report patient results with significant independent judgment within established testing methods.

The Medical Technologist III plays a pivotal role in quality control procedures, laboratory maintenance, and supplies management. This position requires a leadership role in developing and implementing new procedures, instrumentation, and computer functionality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine and specialized microbiology tests with accuracy and efficiency.
• Utilize laboratory instruments and computer systems to evaluate and report patient results.
• Perform quality control procedures to maintain laboratory standards.
• Lead the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technology.
• Manage major ongoing laboratory projects or functions, such as performance improvement, safety, instrumentation, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a technical expert, providing guidance and mentorship to staff and training new employees.
• Assist supervisors in reviewing laboratory reports, procedures, and quality control documentation.
• Oversee departmental proficiency testing and maintain updated departmental procedure manuals and technical resources.

Licensure:

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel is required.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Life Science with the required licensure/certification.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a Medical Technology certification is required.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Technologist in moderate and high complexity testing is required.
• An additional 4 years of clinical laboratory experience in moderate and high complexity testing is preferred.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience is preferred.

Shift:
Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Salary:
$30-$40/hour, depending on experience
