As a Network Operations Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting hardware, software, and applications comprising the Network Infrastructure. You should have a fundamental understanding of switching, routing, and the TCP/IP stack, and be able to analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, repair and upgrade network switches, routers, wireless access points, firewall appliances, and other devices. You'll also work with networking tools such as Spectrum, NCM, Cisco Prime, EM7, and have a deep understanding of network protocols like SSH, FTP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and Switching/Routing protocols.
This role involves a lot of interaction and coordination with other teams such as the monitoring team, the Help Desk, the SA team, and Network Engineering team. You'll also support network upgrades and new product rollouts, which involve configuration management compliance. You'll respond to alerts, events, and customer-reported issues within stated service level agreements and escalate problems as required to the engineering team, ensuring that JPL's IT Solutions Directorate network security and performance standards are met.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100-130K+ (including on-call pay).

Qualifications
To qualify for this challenging opportunity, you should possess a High School diploma with 7+ years of related experience, an Associates degree with 5+ years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of related experience. Good written and verbal communication skills and customer care skills are essential.
If you have work experience/proficiency in configuration/maintenance with two or more of the following: Juniper Switches (Routers a plus), AWS, VPN (Pulse Secure preferred), IP Fabric, Python scripting, expertise in routing and switching, or Wireless Access Points, you could be the perfect candidate for this exciting opportunity. It's important to note that to meet ITAR requirements at JPL, you must either be a US Citizen or have a Green Card.
