Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a hospital near Gainesville, FL, seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) to join their Anatomic Pathology Department. This Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM position offers a great opportunity for experienced professionals looking to advance their careers in a dynamic laboratory setting.
Position Overview:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens, ensuring accurate tissue sampling for microscopic evaluation.
- Assist in autopsy procedures, including evisceration, dissection, and documentation of findings.
- Prepare detailed macroscopic descriptions of specimens, following established protocols and ensuring consistency in reporting.
- Maintain specimen integrity, ensuring proper fixation, labeling, and documentation.
- Assist with photography, radiography, and special studies as required for pathology evaluation.
- Work closely with pathologists, histotechnologists, and other lab personnel to facilitate efficient workflow.
- Perform quality assurance and control procedures, ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA, and hospital regulations.
- Assist in training new staff and pathology residents on grossing techniques and laboratory protocols.
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program required.
- ASCP certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) required.
- Florida state license (or eligibility) required.
- Strong knowledge of anatomical pathology, grossing techniques, and specimen handling procedures.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS), digital pathology, and medical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
Salary/Benefits/Shift:
- $90k–$130k DOE
- Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (No weekends or holidays!)
