Pathology Supervisor
Location: Cary, NC
Shift: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Salary: $35 - $45 per hour
Job Description
The Pathology Technical Supervisor oversees the operations of the Core Lab and Transfusion Services, providing leadership and technical expertise to ensure high-quality laboratory services. This role supports 20 Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS), overseeing hiring, performance management, and competency assessments. The Technical Supervisor is an integral part of process improvement initiatives and system-wide projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily lab operations, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic testing.
- Provide leadership, training, and performance management for MLS staff.
- Oversee quality control, proficiency testing, and compliance with accrediting agencies (e.g., CAP, CLIA, FDA).
- Maintain and update laboratory procedures, protocols, and technical documentation.
- Participate in the selection, evaluation, and professional development of laboratory employees.
- Assist in budget planning, inventory control, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement new procedures, technology, and process improvements.
- Act as a consultant for technical questions, troubleshooting, and complex case resolution.
- Foster a team-oriented and customer-focused work environment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- May be required to provide after-hours assistance as needed.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology (Preferred).
- Experience: Five or more years as a Clinical Medical Technologist (Required), Two or more years of leadership or supervisory experience (Preferred).
- Certifications: ASCP, AMT, or equivalent National Certification (Required).
