Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Software Engineer to join our team. Successful candidates for this position will develop software which interacts with many different complex and exciting systems, including:
Support for test automation software using C, C#, SQL, and React JS
Creating controllers for test instrumentation hardware
Developing purpose built test scripting language(s)
Interface with complex manufacturing information systems
Automated Functional Test
Internal data analysis tools and web applications
The software this engineer develops will have an immediate impact on the efficiency of factory operations as well as guaranteeing the quality of SEL products. Our team's customers are all internal to SEL, which places us in a unique position to interact directly with the people using our software on a day-to-day basis, create short feedback loops, and work with them to design solutions that best fit their needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the design, implementation, and test of software systems.
Understand hardware and software interactions.
Prepare and maintain designs and test documentation.
Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Understand. Create. Simplify.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar equivalent
Typically 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas:
-- Graphical User Interface applications in Windows environments including:
Object oriented design
Object oriented languages (C++, C#, Python, Java, etc)
-- Web application development including:
Back end webservices (WCF, ASP.NET, C#, Java, etc)
Front end web page design (React JS, HTML, Razor, Blazor, etc)
-- General Systems development including:
C, C++, Python
Other scripting languages
-- Embedded Systems development including:
Real-time firmware design
C and assembly languages
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
