We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our product development team in San Jose for the summer of 2025. This team designs and builds applications for a liquid handling instrument for medical research and laboratory work. Interns will enjoy working on a project that matches their area of interest while collaborating closely with talented and experienced engineers. The results of your work will contribute directly to our products or processes, providing improvements to health and medicine around the globe.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Work on a project under the direction of a mentor and in collaboration with other highly talented software engineers.
Document your findings and present your work to the entire team at the end of the summer.
Work cross functionally with Product Management, Software Development and Customers to prototype user interfaces based on voice of customer
Participate as a software developer on an Agile team by attending daily management meetings, completing sprint backlog items and demonstrating completed items in sprint completion demos.
Participate in code reviews and contribute ideas for improvements
The required qualifications for the job include:
Basic knowledge of programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, JavaScript or others.
Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git, Github).
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
Preferred Requirements:
Familiarity with Visual Studio as an Integrated Development Environment
Understanding of JSON, CSV, XML and other data formats
Familiarity of Python libraries such as Tkinter, NumPy and Pandas
Familiarity of Windows UI libraries such as WPF, WinUI, Blazor or WinForms
Experience with software testing methodologies and tools
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of programming fundamentals.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and domains.
Outstanding documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Interest or experience in the life sciences domain
The hourly range for this role is $30.00. This is the rate that we in good faith believe is the rate of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
