    Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking a Technical Lab Specialist with strong chemistry experience to work with an up and coming clinical laboratory at the forefront of scientific innovation! We are looking for candidates who have experience with Beckman chemistry analyzers. 

    The Technical Lab Specialist plays a key role in the clinical laboratory, providing scientific support for assay development, validation, and implementation of new methodologies. This position involves planning, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting findings. Working closely with the Laboratory Director, Director of Laboratory Operations, and R&D Scientist, the Technical Lab Specialist ensures the highest standards in laboratory innovation and quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Drive improvements in existing methods and implement validated new technologies.

    • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all experimental data and laboratory activities.

    • Organize and analyze validation data, prepare reports for publication, and participate in internal presentations.

    • Assist in evaluating, selecting, and implementing laboratory equipment, software, and reagent systems.

    • Train laboratory personnel in method principles, instrumentation, and best practices.

    • Address customer inquiries and contribute to the development of new tests and services

    Essential Duties:

    • Oversee laboratory instrumentation improvements and maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance.

    • Investigate, recommend, and conduct training on laboratory assays and equipment.

    • Enhance lab quality, efficiency, and workflow through continuous process improvements.

    • Manage instrumentation procurement, installation, and validation, collaborating with IT for seamless integration.

    • Program, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate lab equipment.

    • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validation documentation, and maintenance records.

    • Lead the validation of new assays, tests, and equipment under the guidance of senior lab leadership.

    • Schedule and oversee routine and non-routine maintenance, manage inventory, and coordinate vendor services.

    • Train staff on instrumentation, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance.

    • Ensure thorough documentation of all lab activities and maintain organized records.

    • Apply GLP principles to ensure accurate clinical test results.

    • Monitor test analyses and specimen examination to uphold high analytical performance standards.

    • Participate in collection events and investigate quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.

    • Perform clinical testing and prepare quality controls, solutions, and calibrators as required.

    • Contribute to problem-solving initiatives, leveraging data analysis and statistical tools.

    • Undertake additional tasks and projects assigned by management.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or MLT/MLS certification with 3-5 years of clinical lab experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

    • Hands-on experience in assay validation within a CAP/CLIA or New York State-accredited clinical lab, preferably in Chemistry or Special Chemistry.

    • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to interact with lab staff and management effectively.

    • High attention to detail and adherence to confidentiality and code of conduct policies.

    Certifications & Requirements:

    • Compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

    • Annual competency assessments in designated areas.

    • Background check and eligibility criteria may apply.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Language: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to various audiences.

    • Mathematics: Proficiency in statistical analysis and laboratory calculations.

    • Technology: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to learn proprietary lab software (e.g., LIS, MediaLab, Jira).

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000, based on qualifications
