Job Description

Position Purpose:

The intern will be trained in fundamentals of wastewater treatment, Laboratory analysis, and Office and Plant Management. They will assist the operators on normal operational rounds and procedures, as well as assisting lab and office personnel as requested.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists with duties of Operators as needed.
• Assures work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
• Assists with cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area and equipment.
• Assists with duties of Laboratory Technicians as needed and assists with computer input.
• Assists office personnel as needed including filing and copying of documents.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Trade school or college experience and are interested in working in the environmental sector.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Requires well-developed reading, math, writing, scientific, and verbal communications skills.
• Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Requires ability to plan, organize, train, and functionally supervise subordinates.
• Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in various positions, which require standing (80%), walking (10%), sitting (5%), and bending (5%).
• Body movements require working with hands extended in front of body 18 inches (60%).
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
