    Position Purpose:

    The incumbent for this position can work out of Paramus, NJ ; Boston, MA ; Milwaukee, WI ; or Houston, TX areas, in a hybrid capacity.

    As Vice President of our Engineering Team in Technical & Performance, you will lead a team responsible for technical leadership across all business units in Veolia North America. The main objectives include:

    1. Supporting existing operations with world-class technical expertise to solve current challenges and to promote operational excellence and safety across our sites; this includes process optimization, greenhouse gas reduction and efficiencies in chemical, power, and water use;
    2. Helping with our growth initiatives and business development by providing technical expertise on operability, risk management, and technical/engineering input on new deals, and;
    3. Creating and leading a technical community across Veolia North America to support technical innovation and implement standard practices (where applicable).

    This role will also collaborate closely with our Business Support & Performance (BS&P) team in Paris and across Veolia Zones in North America, and with similar teams around the globe. This is an important and visible leadership role for a leader who believes strongly in, and is willing to demonstrate Veolia’s Purpose, and contribute to the implementation of our Strategy.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    1) Lead Team of Technical Experts to Support Existing Operations

    • Engage key assets and critical sites across North America with technical expertise to safely optimize operations for process compliance, greenhouse gas reduction, and efficiency in natural gas, power, and water use.
    • Perform site process assessments and evaluate site energy and operating costs.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational problems with local teams, as-needed.
    • Develop and implement best practice standard operating procedures across Veolia sites.
    • Perform analysis of opportunities for technical and operational improvements to generate value to our customers.
    • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of technical and performance initiatives, adjusting as needed over time.
    • Lead, develop, coach a team of resources in the Technical & Performance group.

    2) Lead Engineering Support to Growth Initiatives and Business Development

    • Provide technical evaluation, recommendations, and guidance on new project development in collaboration with Business Development and Operations project teams.
    • Identify potential risks in new opportunities and work to outline mitigation actions in collaboration with Business Development, Operations, and Contract Management.
    • Support the preparation of proposals in response to customer specifications and technical information requests.
    • Review customer presentations from engineering standpoint and support Business Development with presentations for Clients or Conferences

    3) Lead Technical Community across Veolia North America

    • Help to create and maintain a community of technical resources across Veolia North America while establishing connections with other Veolia geographies and BS&P in Paris.
    • Drive organizational change using this role to model our values, coach, and mentor those in the technical community, and by establishing clear roles and simple processes.
    • Support overall Innovation efforts with an eye for technical evaluation and review new ideas to help drive progress.
    • Lead technical due diligence of potential M&A targets on behalf of Veolia North America.
    • Invest time and resources to attract, grow, and retain technical expertise within the business.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field. Masters degree in Business, or facilities management is encouraged.
    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in engineering roles, with demonstrated leadership.
    • Track record of success in sustainable or environmental engineering businesses.

    Physical Requirements:
