The Ailes Junior Reporters Program launched in 2011 and was created to fulfill Roger Ailes’ ongoing mission to invest in young talent. The program creates a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring broadcast journalists at the #1 cable news network in the country. It is a two-year training program, made up of the best and brightest graduates from the Fox News College Associate Program and entry-level candidates from around the country who are embarking on their careers in the multi-media news industry. The program is designed to build a pipeline for the next generation of talented, hard-working broadcast journalists.
The Junior Reporters are one-man-bands with state-of-the-art newsgathering equipment, strategically located around the country. They enhance Fox News’ newsgathering capabilities and have the ability to go live virtually anywhere, anytime, with portable P2 cameras, laptop editors, backpacks with live streaming capability, iPhones and satellite phones. They contribute a steady flow of content for Foxnews.com, Foxbusiness.com and Foxnewslatino.com as they evolve into experienced, multi-platform journalists.

Take initiative to develop news content for daily stories and breaking news across multiple Fox platforms
Research, report, write, produce and edit original news stories live in the field, including appropriate video, graphics and audio packages
Responsible for shooting, editing and transmitting content utilizing Fox-provided digital HD equipment for daily and breaking news coverage
Communicate to management regarding story development and work alongside news managers, assignment editors and producers to generate news packages
Support Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox News Latino, Fox Television Stations and related online properties by contributing video, audio and written content on a daily basis
Establish a strong network of relationships, sources and contacts within the community in order to develop story leads and ongoing relationships
Experience in reporting / working for a local television station, college television station and/or internship experience
Exceptional writing, research, and on-air presentation skills
Adept in the field and capable of responsibly handling a live news situation
Prior experience within the field as a general assignment reporter, reporting and/or editing news stories, for both television and the Web
Skilled in multimedia production, including Final Cut Pro and Photoshop
College graduate with a solid journalism background and knowledge of the news industry
Ability to work independently and unilaterally with minimum on-site support and management
A team player who is ready to take initiative
Ability to relocate to any location
Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, overnights, especially for breaking news coverage
A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
