  • Responsibilities

    PURPOSE The purpose of the Sales & Marketing Intern position is to assist the Area Manager in a designated geographic territory effectively execute a sales plan to meet and exceed a set sales budget.

    MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    a. Sales 1. Demonstrate, train and coach TNT Fireworks stand/tent operators in the selling of TNT merchandise. Interns will travel to assigned fireworks stand/tents to train operators to increase merchandise sales using sales techniques such as FAB (features, advantages, benefits), product knowledge, up selling, incremental selling, and overall good customer service. 2. Interns will travel to assigned fireworks stand/tents to demonstrate, train and coach TNT Fireworks operators in good merchandising techniques such as fronting product, creating exciting displays, point of purchase selling and gaining incremental sales through merchandising. 3. Train, coach and assist stand/tent operators with book keeping and credit card issues. 4. Interns will travel to assigned fireworks stand/tents to demonstrate, train and coach TNT Fireworks operators in creating an exciting and attractive sales facility by property utilizing signage, planogram and other creative marketing aids.
    5. Assist Area Manager during initial product rollout period by visiting each location after delivery of merchandise to insure merchandise has been properly counted in, over/short form is complete, merchandise is properly displayed and facility is ready for sales. Subsequent visits to the facility will be providing customer service and assistance to increase sales. 6. Assist Area Manager as needed to reorder merchandise. 7. Assist Area Manager as needed in cases of emergency such as weather related issues, down tents, etc. Intern will need to be available 24 hours a day.

    b. Advertising & Competition 1. Sales & Marketing Interns will be responsible for ensuring that all non-profit groups have utilized their press kit to send out public service announcements about their fundraiser. Interns will assist those groups who have not sent out their own by sending PSA’s to local media sources for them. 2. Sales & Marketing Interns will attempt to secure in-kind advertising from local radio media in each area by providing TNT prize packets (hats/t-shirts) for radio contests. 3. Under the direction of the territory Area Manager and Intern Coordinator, the Sales & Marketing intern will be responsible for developing and executing at least one marketing or advertising event to increase sales in a specific target territory.
    4. As time allows, Sales & Marketing Interns will attempt to recruit quality, credit worthy groups and individuals to operate retail fundraising locations for the July 2009 season and if applicable, New Years Seasons. Interns will be eligible for a bonus on new customer leads they secure. 5. Research, document and photograph competitors fireworks stand/tent locations in their assigned geographic territory. Interns will also document any new suitable locations for stand/tents by getting property addresses, taking pictures and getting contact phone numbers when possible.

    b. Permitting and Vendors 1. Assist the Area Manager as requested and trained to apply for and secure location operating permits from state, county, and city officials as needed. Permits must be obtained in a timely manner and will include but not be limited to: business permits, zoning, fire, building, signage, permits and tax licenses.
    2. Assist the Area Manager as needed to act as a TNT Fireworks representative at stand/tent inspections that are conducted by local officials.
    3. Assist Area Manager as requested to contact vendors such as tent companies on service relation issues.

    c. Orientation and Returns 1. Assist the Area Manager in the organization and execution of the TNT University (pre-season orientation program). 2. Assist the Area Manager to execute post-season return center for all operators in territory. Return Center duties may include but are not limited to: computer operator, inventory counting, returned merchandise reconciliation, invoice corrections, staff coordination and supervision.

    e. Travel and Support 1. Substantial geographic/overnight travel during two-week sales season. From the product rollout the Sales & Marketing Intern will visit each sales location at least three times and be “on-call” 24/7 during season. 2. Responsible for turning in travel receipts and expense reports.

    LEVEL OF SUPERVISION: Sales & Marketing Intern will report directly to the Area Manager and Intern Coordinator and will be assigned duties on a daily and weekly basis. Intern must be self-motivated and disciplined and able to work with minimum supervision. This intern will over see the Street Team.

    DRIVING RECORD: Sales & Marketing Intern must have an acceptable driving record per company policy.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must possess at least 2 years of college in business or marketing major highly desired. Sales or marketing experience is highly preferred. 2. Experience working with organizations and/or non-profit groups a plus. 3. Energetic and friendly personality. Must be comfortable in situations dealing with general public. Must be comfortable dealing with fast paced, stressful environment. 4. Must have demonstrated a high degree of analytical ability for problem solving, planning and have superior organizational skills.
    6. Basic computer skills (excel,word, email).
