    Northrop Grumman is seeking Propulsion Engineers. This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Rocket Center, WV .

    The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Missile Products team within the Weapon Systems Division.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Analysis model formulation and FEA or CFD solution using Abaqus or Fluent
    • Providing technical assessments of results and giving design guidance with specialized knowledge of mechanics of materials for orthotropic, hyperelastic, and visocelastic materials
    • Reporting of analysis results in written and oral formats
    • Peer reviewing of other analysts work products, including efforts at other corporate business locations
    • Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs
    • Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution; Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning, conceptual designs, and risk analysis
    • Interact with internal and external customers; Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems
    • Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers
    • Travel up to 10% of the time to supplier, test facilities, and launch facilities

    Basic Qualifications:

    This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2. Basic qualifications for a Propulsion Engineer 1 are a Bachelor’s Degree. Basic qualifications for a Propulsion Engineer 2 are a Master’s Degree.

    A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

    • Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution by December 2024
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
    • Experience or coursework in CAD modeling and finite element analysis programs (Abaqus preferred)
    • Experience or coursework with MATLAB, VBA, Fortran, and/or Python
    • Working knowledge of composite materials
    • Working knowledge of steady state and transient dynamic analysis
    • Working knowledge of viscoelastic and hyper-elastic material modeling
    • Proficiency with Siemens NX
    • Script writing, workflow automation
    • Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing facility

    Salary

    Level 1: $62,200 - $93,400

    Level 2: $75,300 - $112,900
