    Northrop Grumman is seeking Field Engineers. This position will first be based at our Mission Systems San Diego, CA site. After the qualified candidate has obtained necessary program clearances and is trained on the program technology, this position will be deployed overseas to support customer sites for 75% of the year.

    The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Field Engineering organization. The Field Engineering organization works hands-on to provide engineering support to Northrop Grumman's customers as they execute their missions.

    What You’ll Do:

    Have an opportunity to develop your technical expertise across the engineering spectrum while working with a multi-disciplinary team that operates and maintains complex tactical communication systems. Job duties include but are not limited to:

    • Support operations and maintenance of a complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication system providing voice and data services
    • Support preflight system tests and configuring payloads
    • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on the ground and airborne system
    • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
    • System Administration of Linux and Windows computing environments
    • Perform Communication Security (COMSEC) Key Management
    • Use engineering drawings for troubleshooting and system analysis
    • Work closely with Active-Duty military and internal Northrop Grumman Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)

    Basic Qualifications:

    This requisition may be filled as either an Associate Field Engineer or Field Engineer.

    Basic qualifications for an Associate Field Engineer

    A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

    • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
    • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
    • Must be willing and able to travel overseas for 75% of the calendar year to include sometimes austere living environments.
    • Must be willing to submit to an initial and annual medical and dental assessment and meet AFCENT requirements for travel
    • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds

    Basic qualifications for a Field Engineer

    • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
    • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
    • Deployment Requirements: must be willing and able to travel overseas for 75% of the calendar year to include sometimes austere living environments. Must be willing to submit to an initial and annual medical and dental assessment and meet AFCENT requirements for travel.
    • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds

    Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

    • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
    • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance
    • Working knowledge & understanding of radio and communication systems
    • Ability to read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting
    • Ability to use technical documentation to assemble hardware
    • System administration of Linux and Windows environments including service pack updates
    • Ability to read and follow technical documentation
    • Knowledge of Link-16, VMF, SADL, SAT-J and/or JREAP-C
    • Experience integrating, testing, and operating; PRC-117, ARC-210, CDL, SADL, MIDS JTRS radios
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or greater (CompTIA Security+ certification)
    • RF theory knowledge

    Pay Range:

    • Associate Field Engineer (Bachelor’s): $61,200 - $91,800/year
    • Field Engineer (Master’s): $73,900- $110,900/year
