Engineering Technician (parachute Rigger - Quality Assurance)
Position Description
Duties include quality assurance inspections of life support equipment as well as, repairs, and repacks. Working with life support equipment and may require the design and or development of new equipment and writing instructions on proper use. Participates in investigations that result from Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR) and performing reviews of engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Additional duties may include performing rigger inspections and repair of fleet parachutes supporting the Parachute Packing Loft. May assist with fabrication of various items including Mylar bags, repairing harnesses and inspecting/packing emergency bailout parachute systems.
Independently interpret requirements from drawings and specifications and determine acceptability of products being evaluated. Knowledge of gear worn by aircrew members and the proper use of the equipment. Independently perform fabrication of complex textile items for test and evaluation of parachute systems, ALSS and Naval Airborne Operations gear and accessories with little or no oversight. Will handle energetics associated with parachute systems.
