Position Description

You will serve as either a GENERAL PHYSICAL SCIENCE / PHYSICIST / OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST / MATHEMATICIAN in the CHIEF TECHNOLOGY AND STRATEGIC OPERATIONS OFFICE (CTSO) of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

• You will be aware of all basic research within the command’s portfolio and will be the primary coordinator between command leadership and the Science and Technology workforce.
• You will provide independent and authoritative advice on complex issues, projects, or programs to other experts, senior leaders, and/or Senior Executive Service personnel within Navy, DoD or other Federal agencies.
• You will serve as an expert in a rapidly evolving complex technology field with extensive impact on Naval aviation technology needs.
• You will be responsible for the development and coordination of the command’s basic research strategy, execution, metrics-based assessment, and portfolio communication/coordination with senior leadership and external agencies.
• You will coordinate proposal/project reviews and evaluations, and provide feedback to organizational leads to ensure project selection and execution is in alignment with goals.
• You will document best practices and identify and recommend program and process improvements.
• You will focus on basic/fundamental and applied research (BAR), with emphasis on roadmaps to mature emergent technologies through increasing levels of hypothesis testing, prototyping and experimentation.
