Position Description
Incumbent applies protective and decorative paint finishes to aircraft, aircraft components and accessories, slave equipment, engine components, electronic equipment, oxygen equipment. Assists a higher graded employee in the application of decalcomania, transfers, silk screens, stenciling, color code markings to include national insignias, service branch lettering and designs. They assist higher-graded Painters in the full range of their duties.

Position Duties/Responsibilities
Work from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions, and at times, under the guidance of a higher-graded Painter. Prepares aircraft, engines, ground support equipment and components for finish using various chemicals, detergents, and solvents in conjunction with high pressure steam and water. Perform by detailed instructions strip operations such as chemical and Plastic Media Blasting, masking, apply chemical conversion to bare substrates, identify various types of corrosion and treat in accordance with technical information, prepare and apply various paints/proper finishes to process aircraft, aircraft engine structures, components, assembles, and/or sub-assemblies. Must be familiar with and capable of performing spray paint work involving high finish and close tolerance requirements, using conventional coatings and equipment.
