Job Summary
The Department of Religious Studies seeks to hire one academic support for Spring 2024 courses listed below. These courses vary in credit hours and will be taught as either onsite residential courses or online courses -- in some cases both -- for the entire semester, January, 13, 2025 through May 9, 2025.
Course Descriptions:
REL-620e—Meditation Practicum II (3 Credits)
REL-620—Meditation Practicum II (1 Credit)
These courses are in person, and online asynchronous. They will meet during the Spring 25 semester from Jan 13,2025 -May 9, 2024.
I Selflessness is considered a profound and difficult teaching. The subject is first approached indirectly by exploring the deeply conceptualized nature of human experience. This leads to identifying our experience of having a self and analyzing this self-using analytical meditation. Does it exist or is it just an emotionalized fabrication? Based on the Theravada and Tibetan Shedra traditions. Prerequisite: REL600 or permission of instructor.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Religious Studies, Yoga Studies, Master of Divinity, or a related field.
Prior relevant experience may substitute for degree.
Familiarity with Religious Studies, Yoga Studies, Master of Divinity, contemplative education and specific course content.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
Onsite : Academic Support members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:
Online : Academic Support members in our online courses spend most of their time engaging and interacting with students through virtual meetings and online assessments. As a staff member, you may spend extended periods meeting virtually with students as well as:
Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
Standing or sitting for hours at a time.

All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
