    The Department of Digital and Strategic Marketing Communication Studies invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach courses in:

    • BA Digital Marketing (in-person; Azusa campus)
    • BA in Public Relations (in-person; Azusa campus)
    • MA in Strategic Communication (online asynchronous)

    Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty is to deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department.

    In addition, faculty responsibilities may include:

    • Preparation of syllabus and teaching of curriculum according to the goals and objectives of the department.
    • Student advising and office hours in relation to the course load carried, and as assigned in the faculty teaching assignment.
    • Participation in faculty meetings and departmental activities as identified by the department chair or program director, and assigned in the adjunct faculty contract.
    • Determine student mastery of material and assign final course grades from evaluation of tests, quizzes, homework, and other assignments and activities related to course material.
    • Articulate educational connections in a variety of marketing and advertising settings.
    • Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a master's degree or Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in Public Relations, Advertising, Digital Marketing or related area. those with extensive industry experience may be considered without a terminal degree.
    • Preferred experience includes teaching at the college or university level. Experience in online teaching preferred for Master's program.
    • Demonstrated commitment to professional and scholarly activity.
    • Demonstration of collegial teamwork, including a desire to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the Department of Digital and Strategic Marketing.
    • The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University.

    Workload

    Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, nor 24 units per 12-month period.

    Compensation:

    $25.32 - $27.32/hour (Using a 3 unit full semester appointment as a pay guide). The actual hourly rate will be determined by the units, course length, experience, and rank of the candidate. Adjuncts are paid on an hourly basis which includes preparation and teaching time.

    1. Clinical expertise.

    3. Strong analytical, data management and computer skills.
    4. Current working knowledge of discharge planning, utilization management, case management, performance improvement and managed care reimbursement.
    5. Able to work with people of all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
    6. Flexible, open-minded and adaptable to change.
    7. Understanding of pre-acute and post-acute venues of care and community resources.
    8. Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.
    9. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, payors, and patients/families.
    10. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, culturally sensitive.
    11. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
