The Automotive Service Instructor provides technical and subject area expertise in their respective program. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to instruct and train students in skills related to automotive service and maintenance careers as automotive technicians.
Work also includes program planning; purchasing and budgeting; program scheduling; student recruitment; curriculum development; and program review. The position involves analyzing community and industry needs and providing technical assistance to local industries. The instructor coordinates work with other instructional and college personnel, including reporting, enrollment management, and other activities. The position requires qualification for an Idaho Career-Technical Postsecondary teaching credential.
The successful candidate will work with the Program Manager to facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing appropriate, meaningful and equitable instructional activities, while evaluating student learning by creating and applying well-designed assessment tools. This will be accomplished through curriculum development, program review, mentoring of students, and in collaboration with community and industry for successful placement into the workforce.
The successful candidate will assist students to connect with academic and non-academic support services as needed; engage in institutional service, professional development, and other duties assigned by the Department Chair and Dean.
Teaching responsibilities may include day, evening, online, or hybrid, and is subject to change as needed. Responsibilities of a full-time faculty member include, but not limited to 37.5 hours per work week as outlined in the CSI Faculty Handbook; including maintaining a minimum of 5 office hours per week (1 hour/day); and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and other of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field preferred, but not required.

Be willing to travel for dealer visits and recruiting events
Strong oscilloscope usage and understanding
Have extensive knowledge of the manufacture and usage of electronic components
Strong understanding of ohms law wiring diagrams repair and diagnosis
And be able to teach electrical courses, Good understanding of voltage drop.
Have extensive knowledge of General motors Global Diagnostic system software
Have good understanding of HVAC systems, including 1234fy, ccot and txv systems
Have good understanding of Automatic transmissions operation, Hydraulics and power flow as well as overhaul procedures of late model GM transmissions.
Have good understanding of engine performance operations including sensor operation and Diagnosis.
GM training preferred
Working Conditions:
Must be able to travel to professional development events, for recruitment purposes, for field trips, and to visit cooperative training sites. Successful applicant will work directly with program students in classroom, laboratory, and supervised work experience environments. Use of automotive service equipment and hand tools will be required and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) will be necessary at times.
