APPROVED DATE: 2/13/2018 The Simulated Learning Lab Nurse Supervisor is
responsible for assisting nursing students in the development of
clinical psychomotor and clinical decision-making skills. The primary
activity is providing and supervising skill demonstrations and practice
time as well as validation of students' ability to perform the skills.
The secondary activity is to work with faculty to incorporate curricular
content into the learning lab, especially with the high-tech simulation
mannequins. Other tasks included in the management of the Simulated
Learning Lab (SLL) at both the Bloomsburg and the Geisinger-Danville
sites are scheduling, maintaining inventory, and supervising the
maintenance of the lab. Examples of Duties: SLL Assistant Director *
Assist students in the development of psychomotor clinical skills. *
Verify that students can demonstrate proper technique and understanding
of clinical skills. * Assure that clinical skills are consistent with
standards of nursing practice. * Act as a resource person and supervise
undergraduate and/or graduate SLL managers. * Collaborate with faculty
to integrate SLL skills into clinical practice and curriculum. * Make
recommendations for changes in SLL skills based on evidence-based
practice. * Offer direction/support/resources to students for successful
completion of required skill demonstrations. * Collaborate with faculty
regarding student competencies. * Maintain a referral network for
departmental skills' remediation guidelines. * Schedule SLL
demonstrations. * Maintain ongoing communication with SLL student
managers, graduate assistants, nursing students, and the department of
nursing faculty. * Track/monitor utilization of all SLL sites. *
Document and validate effectiveness of student demonstrations. *
Maintain the SLL in terms of safety, physical appearance, and neatness.
- Conduct annual inventory of supplies. * Evaluate student satisfaction
with the SLL. * Enforce security of SLL facility. * Ensure maintenance
of clinical equipment, materials, and resources including the computers.
- Evaluate/research current and future needs of the SLL. * Promote the
professional development of students. * Complete additional duties and
responsibilities as assigned by program chairperson. * Conduct simulated
case scenarios with students as part of their clinical courses. *
Debrief students after simulation activities to enhance clinical
decision-making skills. * Assesses and identifies space and equipment
needs for functioning SLL at both sites. * Communicates with SLL

Supervisory Responsibility: * Act as a resource person for undergraduate
and/or graduate SLL managers. Qualifying Experience / Education: Minimum
Experience & Training: Three years of professional nursing experience;
and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or a closely
related field from an accredited college or university; OR one year of
professional nursing experience and a Master's Degree in Nursing,
Nursing Education, or a closely related field from an accredited college
or university. Preferred three years of professional nursing experience;
and a Master's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or a closely
related field from an accredited college or university OR three years of
professional nursing experience; an earned Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
from an accredited college or university; and documented current
enrollment in a Master's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or a
closely related field from an accredited college or university. Master's
Degree preferred. Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a current
license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania
State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary
practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Condition of Employment: Employees possessing non-renewable temporary
practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the
one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
