  • Responsibilities

    Boston University's College of Communication (COM) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to help launch the Center for Social Impact Communication. The Project Manager will develop and advance programs that build deeper and broader understanding of important social challenges through insightful research and credible communications and advocacy. This role reports to the Director. The Program Director will support the Director in the collaboration with leaders across COM and the university community to design and develop programs and events that will establish the center as a widely respected resource focused on the nexus of communications and social progress.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience managing creative, event-based, or program-based projects.
    • Experience in academic environment preferred.
    • Proven team and project leadership skills.
    • Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills with a strong commitment to operational excellence and project delivery.
    • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with alumni, donors, faculty, and colleagues.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Must be able to manage simultaneous projects.
    • Excellent writing and communication skills required.
    • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work well with staff of all levels across the Boston University.
    • Knowledge of Boston University budget and purchasing processes preferred.
    • Experience in setting up and executing virtual and hybrid events using various platforms Zoom, Zoom Webinar, Microsoft Teams and others is required.
    • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and upgrades to existing platforms is critical.
    • Frequent weekend and evening work required.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have experience managing creative, event based or program based projects.
    • Have experience in an academic environment as a plus.
    • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with alumni, donors, faculty, and colleagues.
    • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and able to manage simultaneous projects.
    • Have excellent writing and communication skills.

    Hybrid work is authorized after an initial period.
