  • Responsibilities

    The Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine seek a physician to join the Section of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine to serve as Hospital Epidemiologist.

     

    The successful candidate will be given the resources to develop a dynamic hospital epidemiology program at a safety-net hospital with a unique and diverse patient population. They will engage with a multidisciplinary team that includes infection preventionists, hospital stakeholders, data analysts and implementation scientists closely with the quality and performance improvement program, the antimicrobial stewardship program and collaborate with public health partners.

    Required Skills

    Applicants must have an MD or equivalent degree, be board eligible in Infectious Diseases (certification is preferred),  have demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, and have the ability to lead an independent program in hospital epidemiology that includes participation in investigator-initiated and multi-center collaborative research.  A master’s or doctoral degree in a public health-related field and experience as an associate or assistant hospital epidemiologist in a tertiary care environment is preferred. 

     

    The ID Section has expertise treating infections in patients with a wide range of comorbidities and immunocompromising conditions and have particular clinical strengths in infection control and antimicrobial stewardship; HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and infections in patients with opioid-use disorders; and diseases incurred through international travel and migration, tuberculosis and Chagas disease.  Our research strengths include epidemiology, health services and outcomes research; emerging infections, tuberculosis and global health. Numerous faculty have joint appointments in the School of Public Health or the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories.
