  • Responsibilities

    The Career Counselor is a valuable resource for College of Communication (COM) students, and an integral member of the COM Career Services Team. The Career Counselor’s main responsibilities are to coach and advise undergraduates, graduates and alumni with a focus on coaching graduate students.

    As a member of the COM Career Services team, the Career Counselor will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to also run employer information sessions and workshops as well as implement strategies designed to increase attendance at these events.

    The College of Communication is seeking a Career Counselor candidate who:

    • Has 2 years of experience working with college-aged individuals;
    • Has experience in career counseling or coaching;
    • Has experience with program delivery and development or teaching;
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills;
    • Demonstrates the ability to build rapport with a diverse group of constituents (for example students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, colleagues, etc.);
    • Is organized, and;
    • Shows strong attention to detail.
    • A Master's degree in counseling or a related field is preferred, but not required for consideration.
