    Boston University's Department of Biology is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to join our team as a Staff Coordinator. As a central hub of activity within our department, the Staff Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing daily operations, serving as the primary contact for various stakeholders, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our dynamic and collaborative environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for all visitors, incoming phone calls, emails, website submissions, and students and faculty to the Biology Department main office.
    • Assist visitors with inquiries and address student and faculty questions regarding various procedures.
    • Oversee events within the department, including scheduling room reservations and conducting initial student screenings during advising.
    • Manage front desk responsibilities, such as sorting mail, ordering supplies, and coordinating deliveries.
    • Supervise work-study students, ensuring front desk procedures and etiquette are followed, and that accurate information is disseminated.
    • Create and maintain various departmental databases for key and card swipe access.
    • Assist with departmental events as needed.

    Required Skills

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent initiative, leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to function independently and manage complex and confidential materials with discretion.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-prioritize and motivate others to meet daily deadlines.
    • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
    • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
