SUMMARY
The general accountant will provide accounting support to the regional business unit. This role will assist Project Accounting Supervisor and Controller in all aspects of job costing, projections, financial reporting & review and customer invoicing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with PMs to properly setup and maintain projects, including contract fee, budgets and billing information
- Ensure timely and accurate job costing for labor charges, expenses, billing rates, fees and make changes and reclassifications as necessary.
- Assist in monthly financial reporting and account reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly processing of customer receipts and vendor payables.
- Billings / Invoicing: Process pay-applications, progress billings (T&M and Lump Sum contracts), and lien waivers. Including tool/equipment billings.
- Purchase Orders: maintain PO logs, issue PO’s, enter and manage PO’s in the ERP system.
- Review and follow-up with vendors on all job related invoices and payables,
- Assist in collection and review of customer & subcontractor invoices including change orders
- Payroll: assist in certified payroll reporting. Occasionally enter time cards for field employees; reconcile job labor to client specific labor tracking software.
- Develop productivity tracking processes on a job by job basis.
- Analyze monthly project accounting metrics to explain the status of project financial position and regional financial statements. Assist with project reporting processes
- Sales and use tax review.
- Contract maintenance: audit inquiry, compliance review.
- Administrative support for the operating unit’s office and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS
- Two or more years of accounting and/or job costing experience.
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to interact effectively with others, both within and outside of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Word including advanced MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Viewpoint ERP software is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds frequently & 20- 50 pounds occasionally.
