Clayton County Public Schools -School Resource Officer (3949) -Job Posting -Job Details -Title -School Resource Officer -Posting ID -3949 -Description -Position Summary: Under the direction of a Sector Sergeant, this position shall provide law enforcement and police services to the school(s), school grounds and areas adjacent to the school(s); investigate allegations of criminal incidents per District and Clayton County Public Schools Police Department policies and procedures; enforce state and local laws; make appropriate referrals to juvenile court and/or other governmental agencies; work to prevent juvenile delinquency through close contact and positive relationships with students; develop crime prevention programs and conduct security inspections to deter criminal or delinquent activities; monitor crime statistics and work with local patrol officers, investigators and students together to design crime prevention strategies; establish and maintain a close partnership with school administrators in order to provide for a safe school environment.Position reports to the Chief Safety & Security. Additional Job Information: Be visible within the school community. Attend and participate in school functions. Build working relationships with the schools staff as well as with student and parent groups. Develop and implement classes in law related education to support the educational efforts of the faculty. Work closely with teachers in designing and presenting law-related topics and the role of police in our society. Conducts routine patrols of assigned facilities to include buildings, parking lots and District owned, leased, or rented equipment; Operates system equipment to include alarm systems, surveillance equipment, and patrol units when necessary. Coordinates security for crowd and vehicle control at extra-curricular activities and special events. Work with guidance counselors and other student support staff to assist students and to provide services to students involved in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary. Assist in conflict resolution efforts. Initiate interaction with students in the classroom and general areas of the school building. Promote the profession of police officer and be a positive role model. Increase the visibility and accessibility of police to the school community. Assists other law enforcement agencies with incidents involving local criminal activity that may impact student or site safety All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required; Associates degree or higher preferred. Must have 3 years of successful law enforcement experience with High School Diploma/GED or must have at least 1 year of successful law enforcement experience with Bachelors. Must be at least 21 years of age. P.O.S.T. Certified. Peace Officers certification in good standing without any (open) current investigations.
