Academic Support (Educational Sp) College of Languages, Linguistics & Literature, Center for Language & Technology UH Manoa - Honolulu, HI Duties and Responsibilities * Provides project management for the Center for Language & Technology (CLT) initiatives, such as professional learning programs and events, including those that are externally funded. * Keeps abreast of developments in the field and at other institutions through professional listservs, workshops, conferences or colleagues. * Monitors and generates regular reports of usage of CLT websites, online resources, facilities, and equipment and of other activities, and recommends updates or modifications. * Maintains records of CLT-sponsored technology initiatives (including webmasters/people responsible for various project sites) and coordinates communication with CLT personnel. * Hires and supervises CLT student employees and graduate assistants. Ensures adequate staffing of CLT facilities and successful mentoring of students. * Develops or updates procedures for CLT facility usage and monitoring, media requests, equipment checkout, etc. * Manages and coordinates matters related to CLT facilities, media production, equipment checkout, etc., including but not limited to handling of requests, ordering supplies and equipment, and collecting usage fees. * Recommends and is responsible for the purchase of media and equipment, prepares requisitions and other forms, tracks orders and forms through system to ensure timely delivery, and maintains necessary files. * Manages and coordinates communication and recordkeeping regarding site licenses, subscriptions, copyright, etc. for CLT-sponsored projects. * Assists with the maintenance of CLT websites and CLT social media presence. * Orients faculty in the use of CLT facilities and equipment and troubleshoots problems. * In cooperation with the various language programs, coordinates language placement exams and assists as needed. * Provides advice and staff support services to departments and/or LLL faculty in the area of language technology. * Maintains resources used in the various language programs. * Interfaces with the visiting public and the media to present information about the CLT and its functions. * Serves as the acting director in the absence of the director. * Serves as the main liaison between the CLT and the faculty of all the programs within the College of LLL. * Serves on the CLT Advisory Committee along with faculty representatives of the six departments within the College of LLL to determine CLT policies, services, and functions. * Solicits instructors' computer software needs and works with unit's IT Specialist and technology graduate assistants to meet those needs. * Serves as the telecom coordinator for the unit to handle all requests for telecommunications services. * Serves as the building coordinator for Moore Hall, i.e., liaison to Facilities Management and Campus Public Safety. * Assists campus security in case of security incidents. * Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
