    The EMS Academy at Arapahoe Community College is accepting applications for a part-time Instructor to teach in the Paramedic Education Program and Critical Care courses.

    The Paramedic Education Program is a fully accredited Paramedic program which meets Monday through Friday during Fall and Spring semester. The Paramedic Education Program consists of 15 separate courses covering in-depth pathophysiology of disease, advanced pharmacology, advanced cardiology, and advanced critical emergency care for medical and trauma patients. The Paramedic Education Program prepares students to pass the NREMT paramedic exam, be proficient working in emergency medicine, and for success in advanced placement classes in associate and bachelor degree programs. 

    Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the Director of the EMS Academy and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include: instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

    Classes meet on the Littleton campus and may be held days, evenings, and weekends. Online work for qualified teachers is possible, however, finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online courses.

    The instructor must be patient, and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    • Five years working as a paramedic on an ambulance or helicopter
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • Experience teaching paramedics in a classroom or clinical site (ambulance)
    • Current certification at the Paramedic level in the State of Colorado (or able to obtain Colorado Certification)
    • Have, or qualify for, a postsecondary CTE credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the last five years

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree in education
    • Recent critical care experience
    • Experience teaching in an accredited paramedic program
    • Experience with curriculum development

    • Computer skill proficiency; particularly in M/S Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with online course management systems and classroom Smart Room technology.

    The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

    • This position operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
    • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
    • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom and laboratory equipment, up to 40 lbs.
