    Educational Gap Consultant
    EF Gap Year
    Cambridge, MA

Are you a self-driven entrepreneur with success in hitting sales goals?
Are you excited by the prospect of playing a major role on a small yet energetic and competitive sales team?
Are you passionate about the opportunity to help high school graduates grow as individuals through amazing international experiences?

The EF Gap Year Sales Team is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Consultant to contribute to our continued growth. As an Educational Gap Year Consultant, you will serve as the primary point of contact for high school graduates, current college students, and their families. In this role, you will be responsible for educating potential students and their families about the benefits of EF Gap Year programs and guiding them in selecting the most suitable program based on their individual needs. Given the diverse levels of awareness among students regarding the advantages of a gap year, you will play a key role in helping them understand how this experience aligns with their broader higher education plans. Additionally, you will address parent inquiries and provide expert advice on which EF Gap Year program - ranging from a semester to six months of global travel - is the best fit for each student.

The gap year industry is still relatively new. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing movement in the U.S. to give students the space and experience they need to grow as individuals, gain new perspectives, and be able to thrive in an ever-changing future.

What you will be responsible for:

    • Independently control your book of business while simultaneously managing incoming new leads, with the goal of setting up a call.
    • Utilize consultative selling techniques to advise students on the best options for their Gap Year.
    • Maintain consistent outreach to ensure a high contact rate and seamless follow-up phone conversations while building relationships and trust with families.
    • Work with the team and the Director of Sales to refine your sales messaging and quickly convert interested applicants to program participants.
    • Understand families’ financial situations and build payment plans that work for them.
    • Identify themes in families’ questions or challenges that can be addressed through new sales processes, webinars, or marketing collateral.
    • Drive special projects as they come up related to increasing our conversion.
    • The role is based in EF’s Boston office and requires an in-office presence with the team three days a week, with two days ability to work from home.

    Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of sales experience with a proven success record
    • A goal-oriented entrepreneur excited to play a critical role in building and growing a small team and product
    • Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills (must be able to connect with a diverse range of individuals via text, email and telephone)
    • Ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize work. You have no problem managing a large, diverse pipeline and staying on top of your tasks
    • Passionate, in a way that families will be able to hear your excitement over the phone
    • Innovation is the name of the game, you do things to find opportunities, not because its “how it’s always been done”
    • Adaptable and able to alter your strategy, routine, or tasks based on changing situations
    • Driven and competitive mindset that has you intrinsically motivated to hit and exceed goals
